Things to See  Visited Brief Description Recommend (10 is best 1 is don't bother)
Nairobi Y High crime city, a little scary if you just arrived in Africa.  This is the place to arrange your Safaris and other tours.  5
Mt. Kenya Y

One can climb Mt. Kenya with a tour or on your own. The mountain is beautiful and only really gets tough on the last day when one shoots for he summit.  For most climbers the Pt. Lenana is the only peak that is reachable.  It is 4985 meters high.  The other two peaks are only climbable by experienced rock climbers.  We took the Sirimon Route up the mountain and the more scenic Chogoria Route down.

Feeling and Opinions on Kenya

Our trip to Kenya basically was just climbing up Mt. Kenya.  Mt. Kenya is a beautiful mountain that we really enjoyed climbing.  We also had a good guide and helpful porters who made our trip enjoyable. We did not do a Safari because we decided to do our Safari in Namibia and Zambia.  Otherwise most people to whom we have talked to had really enjoyed their game viewing.  Nairobi is a crime haven, where people are always trying to rip you off or get your money somehow. If you play it smart, you probably will not have any problems.  We came down through Ethiopia to Kenya.  From Moyale to Isiolo the only transportation, except for flying, is a truck convoy that takes two days through some really remote parts of Kenya.  We were lucky to get on top of a cattle truck.
